Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 25 June 2026
1. Who we are
What The FRCA (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a revision tool for candidates preparing for the FRCA examinations, operated by Duncan Birse trading as What The FRCA, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom.
You can contact us at: hello@whatthefrca.com
Or write to us at: 114 West Savile Terrace, Edinburgh, EH9 3EJ.
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the What The FRCA website and app (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Who can use the Service
The Service is intended for users in the United Kingdom. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or over and that the information you provide is accurate.
You are responsible for keeping your account login details secure and for all activity that takes place under your account.
3. Your account
Accounts are strictly personal and for the use of a single individual. You may not share your login details, allow anyone else to use your account, or transfer your account to another person.
You can manage your account, including updating your email address, changing your password, and deleting your account, in the ‘My Account’ section of the app.
What The FRCA is a revision aid designed to support your exam preparation. It is intended to be used alongside textbooks, courses, clinical experience, and official guidance — not as a replacement for them.
We do not guarantee that using the Service will result in exam success. Your results depend on many factors beyond our control. The content is provided for the purpose of exam revision only. It is not clinical or medical advice and must not be relied upon for the treatment or care of patients. While every question is reviewed and validated by practising anaesthetists, we do not warrant that all content is free from error.
5. Free trial
We offer a free trial of 25 questions, which requires no payment details. The free trial gives access to the same features as the paid version, limited to 25 questions. We may change or withdraw the free trial at any time.
6. Purchases, access and pricing
Full access to the Service is sold as a one-time purchase for a fixed period (currently 1, 3, or 6 months). There is no subscription and no automatic renewal. Your access begins as soon as your purchase is confirmed and ends at the close of the period you have paid for.
Prices are shown on our website and in the app at the time of purchase. We may change our prices from time to time, but changes will not affect access you have already purchased — any change applies only to future purchases. Payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card details.
7. Refunds
You can request a full refund within 48 hours of purchase, provided you have submitted no more than 25 answers since buying. After 48 hours, or once you have submitted more than 25 answers, your purchase is non-refundable.
To request a refund, email us at: hello@whatthefrca.com
from the address on your account within the 48-hour period. This refund policy is in addition to, and does not affect, your legal rights if the Service is faulty or not as described.
8. Our content and your licence to use it
All content in the Service — including questions, explanations, teaching points, text, design, and branding — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
When you purchase or access the Service, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the content for your own exam revision only. You may not copy, reproduce, screenshot for distribution, download in bulk, or otherwise extract questions or other content from the Service; share, publish, sell, or redistribute any content, whether for free or for payment; or use any automated system to access or collect content from the Service.
9. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service lawfully and in line with these Terms. You must not attempt to disrupt or interfere with the Service, gain unauthorised access to it, or use it in any way that infringes the rights of others.
10. Suspending or ending your access
If you breach these Terms — for example by sharing your account, copying or redistributing content, or attempting to scrape the Service — we may suspend or terminate your access without notice. Where we end your access because of your breach, you will not be entitled to a refund.
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time through the ‘My Account’ section.
11. Availability of the Service
We work to keep the Service available and running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. The Service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. An internet connection is required to use the Service.
12. Our liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss that is not a foreseeable result of our breach, or for losses arising from your reliance on the content for any purpose other than exam revision. Because the Service is a revision aid, we are not responsible for exam outcomes. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these Terms.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify registered users by email and post the updated Terms on our website with a new ‘last updated’ date. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of Scotland. If you are a consumer based elsewhere in the UK, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the part of the UK in which you live.
